Mahendra Singh Dhoni, sometimes referred to as MS Dhoni, is a cricketer from India who competes for his country on an international level. Dhoni represents Jharkhand in first-class cricket at the national level.

In Ranchi, Bihar, Dhoni was born on July 7, 1981.  In a Hindu Rajput family, he was nurtured. In the Lamgara block of the Almora District, Uttarakhand, in the village of Lwali, his parents were originally from. In MECON, Pan Singh, the father of Dhoni, held positions in lower management.

Brother Narendra Singh Dhoni and sister Jayanti Gupta are Dhoni's siblings. Sakshi Singh Rawat, a classmate of Dhoni's at DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir, and he were married on July 4, 2010. Ziva was born to the couple on February 6, 2015, and she was a stunning girl.


A Career in MS Dhoni

He became a member of the Commando cricket team in 1995, and for the following three years, he served as their field manager. Following that, he was chosen to compete in the 1997–98 Vinoo Mankad Trophy Under-16 Championship and did well.


Dhoni started out as a player for the Central Coal Fields Limited (CCL) squad in 1998. For each six in the Sheesh Mahal tournament cricket games he scored while playing for the CCL, Deval Sahay would give him fifty rupees. Dhoni was then urged for inclusion in the Bihar team by Sahay.


Dhoni made his senior Bihar Ranji debut in the 19992000 campaign. He also played for the Bihar U-19 team in the 1998–1999 campaign, when he amassed 176 runs in 7 innings across 5 games.


Deep Dasgupta, an international cricketer, was passed over for Dhoni, who has played in the Ranji Trophy for more than three years. The moment Dhoni entered the spotlight was at that point. Dhoni was identified by TRDO Prakash Poddar and scouted by BCCI's small-town talent-spotting project TRDW.


For a trip of Zimbabwe and Kenya, Dhoni was chosen for the India A team. He attracted the notice of people like Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri because to his performances on that tour.


Career in IPL

The Chennai Super Kings paid US$1.5 million for Dhoni's services for the 2008 IPL season. In the IPL's first season's auctions, he was the most expensive player. The 2010 and 2011 Indian Premier League, the 2018 and 2021 Champions League T20, and the 2010 and 2014 Champions League T20 were all won by Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings.

Rising Pune Supergiant later purchased Dhoni for US$1.9 million in 2016 after the CSK was suspended for two years. That year, he served as captain, but after his team placed seventh, Steven Smith took his place.


For a record-breaking eighth time in 2019, MS Dhoni's CSK team advanced to the final, however they were defeated by a Mumbai Indians team that had resurrected, as they narrowly prevailed.


By defeating KKR by 27 runs in the IPL 2021 championship game, CSK won the trophy for the fourth time under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.


International ODI Career of MS Dhoni

During the Indian ODI team's search for a wicketkeeper-batsman, Dhoni entered the international scene. The decade of the 2000s saw the emergence of wicketkeeper/batsmen like Parthiv Patel and Dinesh Karthik, as well as Rahul Dravid.


But they weren't a good fit for the team's composition. Then Dhoni entered the picture. He was chosen for the ODI team for the 20042005 tour of Bangladesh.


Dhoni had the worst possible start to a career that anyone could have possibly wished for. The last thing you want is to be called a duck right out of the gate. Dhoni was chosen for the series against Pakistan despite his lacklustre performance in his opening series against the Bangladesh cricket team.


In his fifth one-day international, Dhoni scored his first century. In just 123 deliveries, he scored 148 in Visakhapatnam. And the Dhoni era was born.


In the 2019 World Cup Semifinal against New Zealand, he played his final ODI inning, ending it the same way he had begun it: with a runout. Even though there were rumours that MSD will make a comeback after the 2020 IPL, the unexpected events caused by COVID-19 made sure that MS Dhoni played his final international match without bidding farewell.

MS Dhoni performed five parachute training jumps from Indian Army aircraft in the training centre in Agra in 2019. As a result, he is now a certified paratrooper in the Indian army.

Dhoni at World Cup Competitions

MS Dhoni has participated in four World Cups, including two as captain. India won the World Cup in 2011 and advanced to the semifinals in 2015 under his leadership.


MSD was chosen for the World Cup in the Caribbean due to strong showings both in the middle order and at the wickets. India's performance was dismal as they dropped two out of the three games they played in group play against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.


Dhoni had terrible innings, getting out with a duck in both contests. The entire team, including Dhoni, received harsh criticism for their efforts. After Bangladesh's defeat, some 200 fans invaded Dhoni's unfinished Ranchi residence.


The Men in Blue were able to defeat Bangladesh in the quarterfinals and go to the semifinals of the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand under Dhoni's captaincy. But in the semi-final match at Sydney Cricket Ground, they were defeated by the hosts, Australia.


At age 38, Dhoni competed in his final World Cup. The tournament began with him serving as India's wicketkeeper this time. Despite his useful hits against South Africa, Australia, and the West Indies, MSD received the bulk of the criticism for his strike rate and "lack of intent."


MS Dhoni Retirement

On August 15, 2020, MS Dhoni, the captain of team India and winner of all three ICC trophies, announced his retirement. After the IPL 2020, a T20 WC is set, and Dhoni is anticipated to participate. IPL 2020 will now take place between September and November 2020 due to the COVID19 epidemic.


Dhoni and Suresh Raina unexpectedly declared their retirement to participate in the IPL 2020 early. Although MSD departed from ODI, Test, and T20 matches, his love for CSK is still at its highest. where he affirms that he will continue to wear the yellow jersey.
